Overview
-
A VLAN with no IPv4 at all, used as my daily network for a few months to see what really breaks when you remove the old protocol.
How it workedDNS64 synthesised AAAA records for IPv4-only sites, and a NAT64 gateway on the firewall translated them. Everything else was native IPv6.
OutcomeAbout 95% of what I use just worked. The holdouts were a few game consoles, a printer, and any app that hard-codes an IPv4 literal. See the note on living IPv6-only.
